Description: This project was created with Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night in mind. During class we looked at the painting deeply to see what we saw. I really liked the circular motions I saw in his works so I tried to incorporate that into my project. I think The background was made with strips of tissue paper that I cut and spread throughout the paige. I then cut a skyline out for my landscape of my project. I used oil pastels to create the movement lines that I thought resembled van Gogh's painting. The oil pastels create a circular movement that draws the eye to the bright colors.
Extension Activity: I think one extension activity would be to give the students only one piece of tissue paper. They would have to be creative using that one piece of tissue paper and create a background that still draws the eye. Using one piece of tissue paper will be a challenge for the students but I feel it would be fun to see the students creativity come out with such a lack of resources. They will have to create an elaborate background to make the project come to life like the one above. Sometimes the best projects come from very little resources and a big imagination!
